Today, I went to this concert at my school (Seoul Foreign School). It was a special concert, and Robert W. Smith was the director of that concert. Students were chosen to play at the concert from different and schools, and some students were from our school too.
It was truly amazing. The pieces were played so well, and Robert W. Smith spoke so well in a inspiring way. This is the probably one of the concerts where I was actually putting my full attention to it. One of the most best pieces (in my opinion) is the piece he composed called A Divine Comedy. It's based on this poet (I think he's Italian...is he?!). Daunte was his name, and he created a book where he traveled through Heaven and H-E-Double Hockey Stick. (LOL). Anyway, this concert was breathtaking concert. :)
Below is a picture of Robert W. Smith, though I think he was younger HAHA.
"Somewhere in the world, right now...Someone else is telling a story! A different story! A saga...a romance...a tale of an unforeseen death. It doesn't matter! It's sustaining the universe. That's why we're still here. You can't stop stories from being told!" -Doctor Parnassus

A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park
This story was so...inspiring. It's about this boy, named Salva. It's set in Sudan, during 1985. Salva is part of the Dinka tribe. One day, he was attending the school that he goes to, when all of a sudden, he hears guns and fighting. The teacher says to run away from the village, so Salva runs away. He meets this old woman and stays with her for five days. However, she leaves and Salva finds a group running away from the war as well, so he joins them. He finds his uncle, who is basically the leader of the group. He finds a friend, named Marial, though he is killed by lions. The group is heading to Ethiopia, and they cross the desert and a river to reach it. When they almost reach their destination, Salva's uncle is killed by a couple of smugglers. Salva is neglected by the group, but then he sees them no more when they reach the Ethiopian camp. He stays there for six years, until the camps are closed down. Soldiers attack them while they cross the river, and the river is harsh because the current is high and is swarmed by crocodiles. But, Salva survives and makes it to the refugee camp in Kenya. Before reaching the camp though, he leads a group of people to the camp, and it takes a year and a half to reach it. Staying there was harsh; there was barely any food, and diseases were being spread around the camp. He meets Michael, and aid worker from Ireland. Michael teaches Salva a bit how to read and play volleyball. He stays there for five years, until he is chosen to go to America. He rides the airplane, and lands in Rochester, New York. Chris and Louis Moore and their children welcome into the family, and help him to learn English and more. This goes on until he receives an email from his cousin saying that his father is in Sudan having a stomach surgery due to the bad water in his body. It takes time, but Salva goes to Sudan and finds his father. It was a happy reunion, but Salva has to leave back to America. After his trip, Salva has an idea that he wants to do. It takes a lot of effort and time, but soon, he is able to do it. You learn in the orange text in the book, that his project that he worked so hard on was to make wells for the village people. It says he helped out the Nuer tribe drink fresh, clear water.
At the end, Salva has a message and it says "Stay calm when things are hard not going right with you. You will get through it when you persevere instead of quitting. Quitting leads to much less happiness in life than perseverance and hope."

Darkwing by Kenneth Oppel
This story was phenomenal. Just like the other books that preceded Darkwing (Silverwing, Sunwing, and Firewing). It's about this chiropter (which is like the ancestor of bats basically, it's fictional) named Dusk. Dusk is different, so he is considered a freak among the colony. He has wings so he can fly. The chiropters have sails with fur, so they can only glide through trees. Dusk also has the ability of echolocation, while chiropters don't have that ability. The villains in this book is felids. They're basically kind of like dogs sort of. Just imagine it that way. :) Carnassial is the leader of the villains. He's different, because he craves meat while felids mostly feed on fruits or insects. Since he craves meat so much, he's kicked out, but others join him. Together they form this group and go out to hunt meat. They attack Dusk's home, and all this chaos happens. At the end, they finally find a home, and it is unknown what happens to Carnassial. Also at the end, Dusk finds out that he's not the only one with his kind of abilities.
This book is so...tragic, haha. There's so much death and betrayal. It's so sad. :P I really hated it when Icaron, Sol, Aeolus, and Panthera dies. It's sad! But then again, I get emotional over character deaths, LOL. I definitely recommend this book. Kenneth Oppel is a fantastic author. :)

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
This movie was simply astounding. It was so amazing. I LOVED it. It's like Inception. You have to watch it multiple times to understand it. It was so...trippy! It's crazy, and I love that about it. This is Heath Ledger's last movie. He died while filming. :( He was amazing in this movie. Some famous actors are Andrew Garfield (AHHHHH I LOVE HIM), Johnny Depp (AHH), and Jude Law (AHH). There's more, but I'm WAY too lazy to write all of them down...hehe.
It's about his traveling theater troupe whose leader makes bets with the devils. They take audience members, and take them to a magic mirror world, which is actually Doctor Parnassus's mind. He presents them with choices. If you make a bad choice, you go to the devil. If you make a good choice, you make it back.

Reckless by Cornelia Funke
I finished this AMAZING book called Reckless. It's by the GENIUS Cornelia Funke. She's so amazing. I love her so much. Anyway, this book is in this world called the Mirrorworld. Jacob Reckless discovers it by going through a mirror in his past father's study. After twelve years, his younger brother, Will Reckless, follows him to the Mirrorworld. However, he is attacked by the Goyls, or stone-men (It's hard to describe them, haha). Since he is attacked, he doesn't have much time left until he becomes a Goyl himself. Jacob feels so guilty and tries to find the cure for it. And the book goes on until the end. It's a book you're going to regret not reading. It's too amazing~~
The next book is called Restless. Jacob learns that he only has one more year to live, so he sets out trying to find a cure for it in the Mirrorworld. :) Read it!

The Golden Goblet by Eloise Jarvis McGraw
This book is called The Golden Goblet by Eloise Jarvis McGraw. This book is set in Egypt, and the main character is a boy named Ranofer. Ranofer is a porter in a goldsmith's job, doing all the chores, though he wants to be a goldsmith. Ranofer lives with his abusive brother Gebu, and eventually learns in the book that Gebu is stealing from tombs. At the end of the book, Ranofer follows Gebu to the tomb of Queen Tiy's parents, and reports him to the queen. And of course, it ends happily like ALL books do. :)
I liked this book. It was far better than the other books we had to read for our class, haha. The plot was so mysterious and it was really good. I would recommend it. :)

The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong
So, I finished the Awakening by Kelley Armstrong.
Summary: Chloe Saunders is a teenage experiment from the Edison Group (which is basically the bad guys in the book). She is a necromancer, which means raising the dead, seeing ghosts, and things like that. In the first book, the Summoning, she was captured by the Edison Group, but in this book she is escaping with Simon (a sorcerer), Derek (a werewolf), and Tori (a witch). They have to find someone who can help them, and in the book, they find this guy named Andrew who is a friend of Derek and Simon's (they're foster brothers) dad.
The first book was more better than this book. This was kind of slow-going and not very exciting. The next book is the Reckoning.

BACK TO KOREA...
Well, I'm back in Korea. :'(
I miss Japan. It was clean, no traffic, and the people were really nice. :(
It was a good experience. I would definitely go there again. It's a nice place to go to for vacation.

Japan: Day 4
Yayayayya~ Day 4.
We woke up REALLY early and went to this tour thing. It was actually kind of boring. No offense...Anyway, we went up this volcano-ish place and it smelled terrible! No offense. They sold these eggs that were black! It was pretty sweet. Apparently it makes you five years younger, so that means I'm -2 years old. LOL.

Than we went to this temple place. After that, we went on this boat ride, though I can't remember what that's called, hehe. Finally, we went to this place called Yunnessun. It's like this sauna and swimming pool place. It wasn't that bad, haha.
I ate sushi-ish kind of stuff, which wasn't too bad I guess, LOL. This is my last day in Japan. :'(

Okay, so today I went to this place called Ginza or something like that. It's this downtown area near our hotel so it was pretty easy to get to. It was totally awesome! First, we went to this HUGE Apple store:
Than this place called Itoya. It has SO MUCH AMAZING stationary stuff!!
Lastly, we went to this place called Manneken and it sells AMAZING waffles!!!!!
Later, my dad insisted that we have dinner with his coworkers at this FANCY FANCY restaurant. It was awkward. VERY awkward. And the food was served in like tiny portions, and we didn't even eat that kinds of food...so it was not that great....hehe.

Japan: Day 1
So...yeah. I arrived yesterday, but I was WAY too tired to post anything...soo....
So I arrived home at like 4:05-ish. So we frantically got ready and went to the airport. We rode the subway (it nearly killed me) and arrived at Gimpo Airport. My mom is REALLY paranoid about getting in early to the airplane....SO, we arrived 3 hours earlier. Jolly. So we waited for 3 hours until we rode the plane, and on the plane, I watched Step Up 3! It was awesome. HAHA. I didn't finish it though. :P So yeah, we arrived at the airport in Japan (I forgot what it was called) and than we rode this bus to the Imperial Hotel! The art there is simply amazing, haha. Yeah, and than I fell asleep in the hotel room. Story of my life.
BTW, I might post some pictures soon, so yeah~
